He fell short of his goal, but managed to beat his personal best by almost 800 pull ups with 5,110. The final amount of money raised from the Team Gurk effort was 5,500 dollars! A huge thank you to all that came out to support and donate to the charity. A huge thank you to Eating For Abs, Comprehensive Medical Care, Jersey Shore Infant Swimming, Remax, New Grip, Zippy Bites, Scarlet Aquatics, Airrosti, Lightbridge Academy, Apex Entertainment for their contributions and support.
A huge thank you to Retro Fitness of Piscataway and Lou Falzarano for their support over the last three events. They supported the cause in every way possible – allowing me to train for hours at a time, allowing us to hold this event and letting anyone come to cheer on and support. They were a huge part in the success of the day with donations and support. Thank you!
A huge thank you to Eating for Abs and Coach Be Moore for the constant 24/7 help whenever I needed it with my nutrition, workouts, and recovery methods. I continue to work with them and strive to better others and myself in the healthiest way!
In 2014, Kyle set out to break the standing World Record in order to rally community support in honor of a family that lost a son to cancer. The community responded, showing up around the clock to support the effort, and contributing financially by purchasing #TEAMGURK fundraiser Tees. A new record was set, as Kyle completed 4182 pull-ups in June and 4234 pull-ups in November 2015, donating nearly $12,000 toward cancer research!

Kyle receives the official plaque from Guinness Book of World Records, and a $5000 donation for Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from Retro Fitness.

In February of 2014, our schools and community suffered a tremendous loss when Daniel Nols lost his fight with Ewing Sarcoma. He is just one of many that have lost this fight to a pediatric cancer. Walking through the hallways, seeing the students’ faces after hearing the terrible news brought me back to my feelings when I lost a childhood friend to cancer as well, Sean Hanna.

Too many are losing this battle at such a young age, leaving behind prosperous futures. I’ve made it a personal goal to help change this outcome. Doing what I can, I want to raise awareness and funds to help fight pediatric cancers.

With your help, we were able to raise over $8,000 in donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Daniel Nols name with my first Guinness World Record Attempt! With the second attempt we’ve been able to reach $12,000 for the entire year

On the weekend of June 14th 2014, Kyle Gurkovich set a new Guinness World Record for Most Pull Ups in 24 Hours at 4,182. The event at Retro Fitness in Piscataway was held to help raise awareness and funds to help fight Pediatric cancers in Daniel Nols’ name.

Kyle attempted to reestablish that record on the weekend of November 15/16th. Though injuries came up during that second attempt that stopped Kyle from achieving his goal of breaking 5,000 pull ups, he was able to officially break the record with 4,234.
